Sisiwá Waiãpi

Waiãpi, Brazil

Sisiwá Waiãpi was born in the isolated Tumucumaque Mountains in the Amazon forest in French Guiana and immigrated to Brazil when he was already known here as one of the greatest healers of his people. He narrates he began to be prepared to be a pajé (spiritual leader) by his grandfather, a famous pajé himself, while Sisiwá's mother was still pregnant, when his grandfather began passing on to him powerful prayer songs which heal troubled pregnancies and incurable illnesses. At 10, Sisiwá was already initiated in the Waiãpi medicines as well. He belongs to one of the most traditional indigenous groups living in Brazil’s most preserved Amazonian state: Amapá. As a spiritual leader he is part of the Waiãpi Council of Elders. Sisiwá communicates exclusively in Tupi.

About

The Waiãpi people live in the northern region of Brazil in the state of Amapá.

Sisiwã is a very powerful pajé who can heal spiritual, emotional, mental and physical diseases and imbalances including but not limited to:

  • Negative energy / spiritual imbalances

  • Difficulty conceiving

  • Lack of love or emotional connection

  • Persistent negative thoughts

  • Stagnation or lack of progress at work

  • Stomach pain

  • Financial struggles

  • Limited friendships or social isolation

  • Difficulty communicating with others

  • Sadness or general unhappiness

  • Childlessness

  • Relationship issues, such as jealousy from a spouse or partner

To heal, Sisiwá uses tobacco and traditional prayers and songs, to connect with the spirits of nature and with God.

Following the treatment, Sisiwá may recommend a specific post-treatment diet. For example, individuals might be instructed to avoid certain foods, like onions, and be away from the sun for a period of three days. This guidance is an essential part of the healing process.
